Strategy sold 1,638 bitcoin last week for about $105 million, below its average cost, to fund preferred dividends and repurchase STRC. At roughly the same time, thieves took control of about 2,055 bitcoin from Coldcard users. That is 3,693 bitcoin, worth about $240 million at today's price, either sold outright or moved into the hands of attackers who can sell it.
Bitcoin is still around $65,000. That is roughly 3.6% above last Friday's close near $62,814. The market absorbed confirmed selling from its largest public corporate holder, a nine-figure self-custody disaster and another week of ugly headlines, then moved higher. That suggests very strong underlying demand. It also feels like the kind of price action we see near a bottom, although anyone who claims to know the exact bottom is selling something.
Zoom out and the picture gets better. Bitcoin traded as low as roughly $42,619 exactly five years ago. At roughly $65,068 today, it is up 52.7%, or about 8.8% annually, during what many people describe as one of its disappointing periods. Bitcoin can look broken in a narrow window while continuing to compound wealth over a long one. Time remains the best antidote to bitcoin panic.
