The American public hates data centers right now. The propaganda has worked.
Getting angry at businesses for driving up electricity demand is completely backwards. Energy demand is a sign of growth. Data centers, factories, compute, AI, bitcoin mining, manufacturing, refrigeration, transportation, all of it requires more electricity. Human prosperity is measured by energy consumption. Rich societies produce and consume more energy. Poor societies produce and consume less.
The real boogeyman here is government. Central planners and climate alarmists spent years deprioritizing grid buildout, attacking reliable baseload generation, and pretending demand would somehow flatten because they wrote it into a spreadsheet. Now demand is exploding exactly the way any serious person should have expected, and the same people want to blame businesses for needing power.
This is what happens when a country wants AI dominance, reshoring, electrification, and digital infrastructure while treating energy production like a moral failure. You cannot have modern civilization without massive amounts of cheap, reliable power. Build more. Consume more.
