The Gell-Mann Amnesia Effect is a cognitive bias where a person reads a news article about a topic they are deeply familiar with, recognizes numerous errors and superficial reporting, but then flips the page and completely trusts the same publication’s reporting on other, less familiar topics. I experience this with bitcoin all the time. WSJ pumping Zcash is retarded, and they know it. Or maybe they don’t, but that would imply they are also retarded. I’m not sure, honestly. Alex Gladstein summarized this better than I ever could.
